The Contribution of the Systems Thinking Approach to Enhancing Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Employees’ Performance

This article aims to assess employees’ performance in small and medium-sized enterprises when their managers use the systems thinking skills approach. The present study employs a model that features different types of systems thinking skills that managers should use to improve employee performance. Five main independent factors were considered that could impact the dependent factor of employee performance. The primary findings demonstrate an increase in employees’ performance when managers use systems thinking skills in small and medium-sized enterprises. This study contributes well to advancing the theory building of systems thinking and provides a rich reference to researchers and practitioners. It introduces a conceptual framework that can guide scholars and academics in their future research reviews. This research provides managerial and social implications that can enhance the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises and help entrepreneurs boost their technical, managerial, and marketing skills.
