Perspective of Students on the Indirect Effect of Activity Based Learning Towards Academic Achievement by Mediating Engagement

Activity-based learning (ABL) is a teaching approach where learners actively engage with learning materials and concepts through hands-on activities, experiments, and projects. It's a shift from traditional passive learning methods where students mainly receive information through lectures and textbooks. In this study, a total of 71 students participated in the survey. The survey consisted of open and closed-ended questions. A survey conducted among third-year students explored their perspectives on the effectiveness of various classroom activities. Cross word, team work, games, poster, cartoon characters, storytelling, google and Kahoot were some of the activities that has been adapted in the class to discuss the concepts. Engagement is the mediating variable that has been used in this study to test the indirect effect of Activity based learning towards the academic achievement of the students. Samart PLS 4 is used to understand the indirect effect between the variables. The results of the study indicate that engagement have a significance in the mediation between the activity based learning and academic achievement. By incorporating activity-based learning into teaching approach can create a more engaging and effective learning environment for students, setting them up for success towards the professional lives. This will improve the students’ independent investigation and problem-solving.
