The Effect of Technological, Organizational, Environmental and Quality Factors on SMEs Performance: Empirical Evidence from UAE

This research aims to examine the effect of technological, organizational, and environmental factors and quality factors on SMEs’ performance. Also, the research determines the mediating role of perceived satisfaction and perceived usefulness in the relationship between technological, organizational, and environmental factors and quality factors and SMEs performance. In this quantitative research design, a structured questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale was used as the instrument for data collection from the total of 483 respondents from SMEs director and managers from four UAE states which are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al-Kaimah. The validity and reliability of the measurement and structural models will be established. Likewise, the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the hypotheses of the study. The results revealed that technological and environmental factors have significant and positive effects on SMEs’ performance. However, organizational factors and quality factors had insignificant effect on SMEs’ performance. The empirical results confirmed that perceived satisfaction and perceived intention to use significantly mediate the relationship between the TOE factors and the overall factors and SMEs performance. This research would add significant value to the existing literature on the TOE framework from an Arabic context such as the UAE. Also, the research would be significant to practicians and policymakers in general regarding SMEs performance.
