Investigating the Role of Sustainable Project Management in the Success of Green Buildings

In the recent days, there has been a growing demand on sustainability and sustainable development. Hence, one of the emerging phenomena in sustainable development is the construction of green buildings in order to enhance the environmental, social and economic aspects of living. Constructing green buildings contribute to many advantages such as; energy-efficiency, reduction of waste and water conservation in the construction industry. Nonetheless, each development has its own challenges too, which includes green buildings’ high initial costs and the lack of project management in the lifecycle of green buildings. Researchers have confirmed the need to change the traditional project management processes into sustainable project management towards enhancing the delivery of green buildings. Moreover, sustainable project management depends on five main pillars; and the two most important ones of them are the stakeholder engagement and lifecycle coordination, both of which reinforces communication throughout the process of delivering a green building.
