摘要
The study presents the perceptions of sustainability awareness levels in higher education settings and commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students at Ahlia University, Bahrain. The study is descriptive, with data collected using a self-administered questionnaire considering several factors (such as educational level, age category, and culture). A survey of 346 students in Ahlia University, Bahrain was conducted to measure their sustainability awareness. The results showed that students have a reasonable level of knowledge and awareness, especially when it comes to sustainable actions and behaviors. Yet, they fail to recognize some core knowledge about sustainability. This study provided recommendations such as incorporating sustainability into the curriculum, providing sustainability-focused degrees and programs, offering sustainability-focused extracurricular activities, implementing sustainable practices on campus, and engaging with the local community. Together, these recommendations will enhance the role of educational institutions in promoting sustainable behavior.
