Design and Development of Smart Metal Detection System Based on IoT Technology

It is well known that mining processes are carried out in dangerous and toxic conditions, like open pits and underground locations. It is crucial to get continuous geotechnical and atmospheric data that makes a versatile Arduino with different sensors and IT technologies both beneficial and cost-efficient for the acquisition of Internet of Things-based data, minimizing risks efficiently. Therefore, the current study aims to design and develop an Ardunino-based metal detection framework to support the mining sector. Special precautions must be taken for such a design to advance the mining operations. The investigation involves how various hardware elements, like a vibration motor, DIY copper coil, buzzer, Arduino UNO microcontroller, and LED indicators, are successfully integrated into one effective system. Arduino IDE and Tinkercad integration systems may be investigated further as potential solutions. The findings revealed the capability of DIY copper coils to sense metallic objects in diverse geological conditions by using a buzzer, vibration motor, and LED indicators tuned by an optimized algorithm for improved system response. The simulations and verifications give evidence of how robust the proposed system is. A smart solution was produced by integrating the hardware and software elements to improve resource management, sustainability, safety, and efficiency inside and outside the mining industry.
