摘要

Community participation is recognized as a cornerstone of sustainable integrated water resources management (IWRM), yet its effective implementation faces various challenges and offers diverse opportunities. This paper aims to comprehensively assess the multifaceted nature of community participation in the context of IWRM. Through a comprehensive review of the existing literature, encompassing case studies and best practices, the article examines the complexities inherent in community involvement. It analyzes the challenges associated with ensuring meaningful participation, including issues of representation, power dynamics, and capacity building. In addition, it explores the opportunities presented by community engagement, such as leveraging local knowledge, promoting adaptive management strategies, and improving resilience to water-related challenges. In addition, the paper addresses current perspectives that influence community participation in IWRM, including the impacts of climate change, water scarcity, urbanization, and technological advances. By identifying key challenges, opportunities, and perspectives, this document seeks to provide information on enhancing the effectiveness of community participation in sustainable IWRM in evolving environmental and societal contexts, ultimately contributing to the broader goal of achieving sustainable water resources.
