Studies on the Level of Fluoride in Ground Water, Particularly in Rural Regions Located in the Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu, India

摘要

The current research investigation aims to illustrate the significant impact that groundwater plays in rural as well as urban environments. Excessive levels of fluorine in household groundwater causes serious health problems in many places of the world. For drinking and irrigation, groundwater is essential for more than 90 of the inhabitants of rural regions. Millions of people around the world face a risk of health problems due to excessive levels of fluoride in groundwater. Depending on the mineral composition of the rocks and minerals that occur naturally that carry it at particular depths, fluoride has been documented that fluoride is found mainly in groundwater in greater quantities. High levels of fluorine increase the incidence of both skeletal and fluorosis of the teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine the fluoride content in a few chosen rural places in the Krishnagiri district. Groundwater samples have been taken across 25 villages in the district of Krishnagiri. The fluoride level of groundwater ranged from 0.1 to 14.8 mg/l. Among those, the fluoride concentration was considerably greater than 10.8 mg/l in eighteen different localities. According to the research findings, fluoride concentrations were above acceptable in the majority of areas. The excessive amount of fluoride in the Krishnagiri district has been caused by the deterioration of rocks and the absorption of groundwater. Therefore, to provide fluoride-free water in Krishnagiri, it has become essential that people learn about the causes of fluorosis and support the capture of rainwater and the decontamination processes.
