摘要

Medical comorbidities are more common in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) than in the general population. Epilepsy is one of the most prevalent conditions and may differentially affect autistic females. We summarize current research on epilepsy and ASD and provide general information on sleep, gastrointestinal, and feeding disturbances. We highlight known sex differences in the occurrence and natural history of epilepsy in ASD and share an example of a multidisciplinary approach to managing medical comorbidities in ASD.
