The Role of Allied Healthcare Professionals in the Care of Pediatric Brain Tumor Patients and Their Families
摘要
The needs of pediatric patients with brain tumor are not limited to surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiotherapy. The impact of the tumor on the child and his environment can be significant and long lasting. In this context, the term of holistic care is often used in pediatric neuro-oncology, meaning the approach designed to assess and treat the whole patient and take into account his/her environment. In this context, the building of a team is a complex exercise that will also depend on resources available. In this chapter, a number of different actors involved in the care of children with brain tumors are describing their role as part of a pediatric neuro-oncology program.
