Dislocated Joints

Traumatic dislocation of a joint can have a negative impact on several soft tissue structures as well as the vitality of bone. Urgent reduction of the dislocation is essential. An overview of the pathophysiology of avascular necrosis is provided. The mechanism of most posterior hip dislocations is detailed, and the importance of seatbelt use when in cars is underscored.
