Risk Management Program Applied to the Use of Biomedical Technology

Medical technology has a fundamental role in health care, allowing the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of patients. However, it is important to recognize that it also carries potential risks that must be adequately addressed to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff. For this reason, it is necessary to design a comprehensive risk management program in health facilities. The present work is based mainly on the standards of ISO 31000:2018 “Risk Management - Guidelines” and follows the national and international entities recommendations. From the implementation of the risk management program in a health institution, various actions were applied to mitigate the identified risks. These proactive measures have been designed with the aim of preventing adverse events, helping to reduce their incidence and minimize their impact, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and improving the quality of medical care.
