Analysis and Survey of Domestic Sphygmomanometers

This paper presents a study focused on the calibration and adjustment of home blood pressure monitors with the aim of obtaining current status information and promoting their correct use and functioning in order to prevent inappropriate diagnoses and decision-making regarding population health. High blood pressure is a common and serious medical condition that requires accurate blood pressure measurement. However, the lack of precision in home blood pressure monitors can lead to misdiagnoses and poor management of this condition. As part of a Blood Pressure Monitor Verification Day, an evaluation procedure was implemented to assess the accuracy and overall condition of these instruments belonging to the general population. To this end, standards and reference techniques were used to ensure the systematization and reliability of the results. The study’s findings revealed that a significant proportion of home blood pressure monitors did not meet acceptable standards of accuracy. Therefore, periodic verification, calibration, and adjustment are critical to ensuring reliable and accurate measurements. The findings and recommendations presented in this study can contribute to improving the quality of these devices and promoting their proper use.
