Creation of a “Lean Manufacturing” System for Outpatient Scanning of Malignant Neoplasms

Malignant neoplasms are socially significant diseases, as they occupy one of the leading positions in the structure of morbidity and mortality of the population in the Russian Federation, therefore, the fight against these diseases is a priority task of the domestic healthcare system. The article provides indicators of the prevalence and structure of oncological pathology among the population. Based on the study of the existing system of organization of medical care for patients with malignant neoplasms, the substantiation of the expediency of taking measures to improve the organization of outpatient oncological care centers in terms of dispensary monitoring of patients with malignant neoplasms is presented. An analysis of the work of outpatient oncological care centers has been carried out and an action plan has been developed aimed at increasing the coverage of dynamic dispensary monitoring of patients with malignant neoplasms, in accordance with the methods of “Lean Manufacturing”. This work consisted of two successive stages: 1) assessment of the current state of the process and 2) development of an action plan taking into account the identified problems in achieving the targets. The basic methods of lean manufacturing were used to obtain the necessary data: mapping, root cause analysis and standardization.
