An Examination of Why Smartphone Use Gradually Leads to Addiction

  • Jaehyun Park

摘要

The rising concern of smartphone addiction highlights its neurobiological aspects, particularly focusing on the dopamine reward circuit, yet direct impacts on the brain are underexplored. Current research reveals a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors, but there remains a notable gap in understanding the specific effects of smartphone use on neural processes. This paper emphasizes the need for a holistic approach, advocating for integrated research that spans biopsychosocial dimensions. Although providing concrete solutions is beyond its scope, the review encourages comprehensive studies aimed at bridging the gap between biological underpinnings and social consequences, thereby enriching our understanding and approaches to managing smartphone addiction within the larger addiction spectrum.
