Infrared Image Processing Software for Early Detection of Lower Limbs Sports Injuries
摘要
This project proposes a protocol for taking infrared images and a software to analyze them in order to detect thermal asymmetries of lower limbs that may be indicators of an imminent injury. Infrared thermography is a technique that allows to represent temperatures, in this case of the skin surface, in an image taken from a distance and without contact with the object under study through a thermographic camera. In this project, infrared images were obtained from patients of a kinesiology center in the city of Córdoba, following a pre-established protocol in order to use them to test the performance of a developed program. The results obtained indicate that this program is able to analyze the images and represent the asymmetries in a quantitative way. Different degrees of asymmetry were evidenced according to the type and characteristics of each lesion. This preliminary shows that the tool could be used to assist in the early detection of injuries in athletes.
