Love Type Surface Acoustic Wave Sensor: System for Biosensing Applications
摘要
Biosensing involves the use of a device known as biosensor for measuring biological or chemical parameters. This field has grown significantly over the years, finding applications in industries such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, among others. Love-type Surface Acoustic Wave (LSAW) sensors are high-performance devices that can be used as biosensors in the development of platforms that analyze gas or liquid samples. The LSAW is an oscillating crystal that changes its frequency response based on the physical changes in the sample, such as viscosity. This article presents the development of a sensing system to analyze biological fluids using an LSAW, where the sample flows through a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) chip. The system was validated with the LSAW as a sensor, using its frequency response to differentiate viscosity between two biological fluids: isopropyl alcohol and a 40% Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) solution. Based on the results obtained, before using the LSAW as a biosensor, the sensitivity of the system will be evaluated by analyzing samples with similar physical characteristics.
