The Current Status of the Application of Virtual Reality Technology in Display Design: A Bibliometric Analysis
摘要
Purpose: To determine the progress and emerging trends in virtual reality technology research in display design over the past two decades. Methods: Based on 317 relevant literature articles related to virtual reality and display space design collected from the Web of Science (WOS) database, a comprehensive overview was conducted using bibliometric methods, utilizing VOSviewer and CiteSpace to create knowledge maps in terms of keyword co-occurrence, co-citation of references, and research collaboration networks. Conclusion: The current research focus on the application of virtual reality in display space design mainly centers around (1) the study of virtual reality psychotherapy in architectural space design; (2) research on gaze rendering and zoom displays in augmented reality; (3) the application of autonomous virtual environments in spatial contexts; (4) enhancing architectural space perception in immersive virtual reality experiences; and (5) the presence of virtual environment frameworks. Future research will concentrate on topics such as automatic virtual environment recognition and tracking systems, focus display development, augmented reality, product evaluation, and more. Classic literature referenced by multiple articles forms the foundation of current research, providing theoretical guidance and methodological tools. Finally, we discuss several future research directions and challenges in VR-EDR.
