Millions of people use medicinal plants as their only source of healthcare, making them a crucial global reference for illness therapy and the enhancement of health of people. Currently, excessive harvesting brought on by rising demand threatens the status of many therapeutic plants. Although numerous species are being grown in soil, the finished product frequently contains less medicinally active substances than plants which have been gathered from the wild. Studies shows that various kinds of medicinal plants have higher secondary metabolism content when cultivated hydroponically as opposed to when they are grown in the wild or in soil, which may lead to more sustainable access to these plants. There are numerous hydroponic systems and methods available, each with unique benefits and drawbacks. It is important to choose hydroponic systems that maximize the growth of the required substances and body parts since medicinal substances are frequently localized within particular plant organs. However, no attempt has yet been made to review the research with relation to the hydroponically grown farming of particular Parts of vegetation from medicinal plants. This paper examines the cultivation of medicinal plants using various hydroponic systems and how the system chosen varies based on the plant organ sought. It also highlights studies with cutting-edge findings that could advance this area.
