Optimal Charging in Smart Grids: A Discrete-Event Approach for Aperiodic Scheduling in Single Socket Charging Stations

Whereas the most common approach is developing a discrete-time optimization modelModeloptimization -, a novel discrete-eventModeldiscrete-event - optimization model is presented in this chapter. This approach has the characteristic of reducing the number of decision variablesDecision- variables and decreasing the run time. In particular, a focus on the nonlinear behavior of the battery is presented, and a solution for retrieving the actual power profile is presented.
