Nigeria and the People: Issues, Facts and Figures
摘要
The socio-political, economic, cultural and ecological Nigerian spaces are complex and dynamic. To truly understand Nigeria, it is crucial to delve into its precolonial, colonial and post-independent history. These historical influences, vital to understanding Nigeria's present development outlook, have united to shape the nation. Like many other African countries, Nigeria’s development path has been marked by challenges, internal and external attacks, and man-made institutional dysfunctions. Predominant among these societal crimes is the issue of corruption. Assessing its nature, extent and effect on the Nigerian experiences provides a fascinating insight into the prolonged battle the Nigerian nation has faced for decades. While the fight against unbridled corruption within the system may not have seen total inertia, persistent questions surround the approach, method, leadership and institutions.
