Development of a Health Monitoring System for Students in Shelters as an Interdisciplinary Project During the Training of Masters in Automation at Ukrainian Universities

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine due to missile and artillery fire, the air alerts have been announced more than 31,000 times with an average duration of 58 min. Educational process in the distant from the front line areas of Ukraine is carried out in either online, offline or mixed formats, accordingly, during air raids students and school children are to go to shelters and have to spend there from 30 min to 3 h or longer. While staying in the shelter young people and children suffer from psychological and emotional stress which can cause changes in the basic physiological indicators (pulse, blood pressure, body temperature), in particular, up to levels leading to considerable health damage. The task of provisioning of operational control of a person’s vital indicators during the stay in a civil protection shelter becomes obvious, it will enable timely and appropriate response to potential threats. At Donetsk National Technical University and Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas the teachers offered the students of the second (master’s) educational level of the automation program a task to develop a health monitoring system for vital activity indicators of people in shelters as an interdisciplinary project with practical case to consolidate theoretical knowledge.
