A Smart Electromagnetic Lens Antenna Design for Next-Generation Location-Based Wireless Communication
摘要
The next-generation wireless communication systems will require smart techniques to provide network coverage, particularly location-based services. In this paper, we propose a smart electromagnetic (EM) lens antenna design that can provide better performance in next-generation wireless communication systems i.e., 6G technology. The proposed lens antenna has the property to focus the signal with high gain and narrow beamwidth in a desired direction. Moreover, the lens-assisted antenna array can steer the signal in a desired direction, using a subset of an antenna array, as a function of the position of the antenna subset i.e., as the position of the antenna subset varies, the direction of the signal varies. Hence, it is advantageous as we need to process a few antennas and achieve the location based services with low complexity and high precision. The simulated results of the proposed EM lens antenna design at 4.2 GHz frequency show that the scattering parameters, gain, and 3dB beamwidth are much improved as compared to a standard microstrip patch antenna without a lens.
