Agency Jurisdiction Over Food and Drug Law

This chapter discusses the different central and local administrative agencies and other branches of China’s government (e.g., the courts), their jurisdiction, and key parts of their roles in creating food, drug, device, and cosmetic regulatory policy and regulations and in implementing and enforcing those regulations. This chapter devotes particular time to the history, internal structure, and affiliated centers for drug and device evaluation of the National Medical Products Administration, which plays the primary national role in the regulation of drugs (small molecule drugs and biologics), medical devices and cosmetics, and similar attention to the divisions and affiliated food evaluation center of the State Administration for Market Regulation, which regulates finished food products.
