摘要

Breast augmentation represents one of the most popular esthetic surgeries worldwide, with a total of 1,624,281 surgeries performed only in 2020, which represents 16.0% of total surgical esthetic procedures. Since there is no single perfect implant, technique, pocket, or incision placement, for every patient, we present the concept of the 5 Ps. Our best breast practice principles: patient selection, preoperative planning, proportional thinking, performance during surgery, and postoperative care. This chapter aims to guide, improve, and standardize primary breast augmentation to achieve natural, reliable, predictable, and long-lasting results with low rates of reoperation due to complications. The success of breast augmentation will be achieved by adhering to the fundamentals of breast surgical principles, proper patient/implant selection, and bio-dimensional planning along with meticulous surgical techniques, strict aseptic control, and long-term follow-up. Therefore, assessing risk factors, educating patients on implant options, including pros and cons, and following patients over time are essential best practices in breast augmentation.
