摘要

Alloplastic implants are biocompatible synthetic polymers, which can be used as an alternative to autologous tissue. In plastic surgery, there is a wide variety of materials that support both aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries. These materials can be used to fill soft tissue defects and fix fractures or bone deformities. One of the main areas where these devices have provided their best support is in the field of breast surgery, for either augmentation or reconstruction. Breast prosthesis and tissue expanders are the most used alloplastic adjuncts in plastic surgery, and, hence, it is important to know about their function, shape, structure, and sites where they can be used.
