The human nose is a very complex entity with a great amount of disparity among and within different human populations. Assessing the external nose requires an understanding of the anatomic features that contribute to its normal topographic components. Therefore, detailed anatomic and clinical knowledge about the external nose is a prerequisite for successful rhinoplasty. This chapter deals with the basic information necessary for functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty. Careful study of these details contributes to a more confident, prepared professional.
