Fundamentals of Blepharoplasty
摘要
Blepharoplasty, derived from the Greek word “blepharon” meaning “eyelid,” is the aesthetic or functional surgical manipulation of the upper or lower eyelids. It is performed for dermatochalasis and it addresses lax skin around the eyes. Upper and lower lid blepharoplasty each have their own set of indications and may be undertaken during the same procedure or separately. Knowledge of the anatomy of the upper and lower eyelids is crucial to the identification of deformities that may be amenable to surgical correction while also preventing unwanted complications.
