Fundamentals of Dynamic Facial Reanimation
摘要
In facial paralysis, restoration of spontaneous facial mimetic motion and tone can be achieved through dynamic facial reanimation. One of the most important factors in the management of a facial paralysis patient is the duration of facial paralysis. Based on the duration of facial paralysis, the chances of successful mimetic muscle renervation and the method of dynamic reanimation can be determined. This chapter will discuss indications, factors to consider, timing of dynamic reanimation, goals of facial reanimation, as well as the types of dynamic intervention (nerve grafts, nerve transfers, and muscle transfers) performed.
