Fundamentals of Lip Reconstruction
摘要
Lips are complex structures that play an essential role in the aesthetics and functionality of the face and can be altered by different mechanisms. Due to all of these, lip reconstruction represents a true surgical challenge. Numerous reconstructive techniques have been proposed, each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this chapter, we present the case of a man who required reconstruction of a lower lip defect using the Abbe flap. This technique was initially described by Robert Abbe in 1989 and has subsequently undergone modifications. Recent advances have focused on improving oral competence, speech, and a better cosmetic appearance.
