Fundamentals in Reconstruction of Acquired Ear Deformities

Acquired ear deformities are unique and challenging cases. Most cases present as a complex defect that needs reconstruction of skin and framework. Holistic management of the patient along with systematic assessment of the defect and the remaining tissues is paramount for successful reconstruction. There is a plethora of different reconstructive options in the literature. However, surgeons should tailor their management based on individual needs of each case. This chapter gives a guidance on how to assess acquired ear deformity cases and highlight the basic principles of reconstruction for each.
