摘要

Ear congenital anomalies are prevalent in today’s society, affecting more than 5–7% of the total population. Within a large spectrum of presentation, the constricted ear deformity represents one of the types. The constricted ear, commonly named as cup ear or lop ear deformity, develops through inadequate embryogenesis of the upper third auricle, especially the circumference of the helical rim causing the superior helix to fold over the scapha. Every plastic surgeon must have the knowledge to recognize the characteristics of a constricted ear, proper initial assessment, treatment alternatives, and possible complications. This chapter will attempt to provide a concise overview on constricted ears.
