Fundamentals of a Psychiatric Approach in Plastic Surgery
摘要
In this chapter, we will describe the prevalence of psychiatric conditions in the aesthetic/cosmetic field as well as the most common diagnosis, including body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD), which are prevalent and might require further psychiatric referral and evaluation as they have been associated with dissatisfaction and poor outcomes. Special consideration should be given when evaluating these patients, as a collaboration between surgeons and psychiatrists often leads to improved outcomes.
