摘要

The human hand is truly an amazing organ product of millions of years of selective evolution changes. The anatomy and functions of the hand are a well-organized structure suitable for developing numerous varieties of complex tasks. The composition of the soft tissues and the bony anatomy in conjunction with the musculotendinous system grants this unique kinesiology of the hand. The plastic surgeon entrusted with the management of the hand pathology must acquire the knowledge of the surgical and functional anatomy of the upper limb, also the ability to correlate the external surface topography, underlying soft tissues, diagnostic imaging, and individual maneuvers for a comprehensive approach and correct diagnosis. This chapter will attempt to provide a concise overview on hand anatomy.
