摘要

Laser resurfacing was first introduced in the 1980s. Since then, a variety of lasers have been developed to achieve a desired outcome while minimizing side effects. They range from ablative and non-ablative laser technology to light-based devices, and what you use depends on the indication. Some indications for laser resurfacing include skin resurfacing and treatment of hyperpigmentation, scars, and vascular lesions. Some contraindications include a history of scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), keloids, skin hypersensitivity, or hypertrophic scarring. As with all devices, there are risks/complications associated with lasers, which include hypertrophic scarring, hypopigmentation, and skin infections. All in all, most laser devices have a good safety profile and, when used correctly, can achieve desirable outcomes in a noninvasive manner.
