Right Internal Jugular Vein in Neonates

  • Fernando Montes-Tapia

摘要

This chapter provides a detailed explanation on how to perform the puncture of the right internal jugular vein (RIJV) in neonates using the short-axis view (SAX view). An intravenous catheter is utilized, employing the dynamic needle tip positioning technique (DNTP) under ultrasound guidance to direct the puncture in real time, which is essential to avoid injuries to adjacent structures from unintentional punctures. Given the small size of the veins at this stage of the patient, it is recommended to secure the jugular vein by cannulating it with the catheter tube, thus preventing its displacement during maneuvers associated with Seldinger’s technique.
