Boundaries and Interfaces

So far we have studied the partial differential equations that describe the behaviour of fluids in bulk regions without discontinuities. These bulk regions are connected by sharp transitions–described as singular surfaces–such as wallfluid boundaries, or phase interfaces. In this chapter we develop boundary and interface conditions, where once more the second law serves as the guiding principle. Topics discussed include velocity slip and temperature jump at wall-fluid boundaries, as well as resistivities in evaporation and condensation processes.
