Transient Behavior of the Photonic Switch with Duplication of Switching Elements in the All-Optical Network with Heterogeneous Traffic

The transient operating mode of the optical switch with duplication of switching elements in the all-optical network with heterogeneous traffic is investigated. To analyze the performance characteristics of the switch the multi-line queuing system with limited buffer and correlated input flow is investigated. The analytical method of solving the Kolmogorov system of equations based on finding the probability translation matrix is used. The analytical expressions are given for non-stationary probabilities of switch states, and based on them expressions of probability of losses and throughput are presented. In the numerical example, non-stationary and stationary values of state probabilities, throughput and values of transition time for the all-optical switches with two switching elements and buffer size equal to one packet are analyzed. The performance metrics are analyzed in depends on different values of arrival rate.
