Contextual Issues Associated with the Detection and Identification of Victims of Human Trafficking

There are many contextual issues which affect the trafficked victim being identified and protected and for the State to effectively implement crime control policies to charge, prosecute and convict offenders of modern slavery. Additionally, hostile environment policies often lead to individuals being kept in exploitation and invisible to society. The divorce of the UK from the EU (Brexit) has also impacted on the ability to combat the crime transnationally. These issues are important to examine as they provide a present contextual assessment of where we are as a society to deal with the emerging threats to border security and the impact on genuine victims of trafficked victims in the UK.
