Designing Technology for Neurodivergent Self-determination: Challenges and Opportunities – Workshop Results

This paper presents the results of the workshop on Designing Technology for Neurodivergent Self-Determination: Challenges and Opportunities. The workshop was part of the 19th International Conference promoted by the IFIP Technical Committee 13 on Human-Computer Interaction (INTERACT 2023). Eight position papers and two Lived-Experience Reports were presented and discussed in the workshop. During a creative design thinking session, multiple challenges focussing on typical human-centred design processes with a specific target user group of neurodivergent people were examined and opportunities were derived. Interestingly and worth highlighting, the COVID pandemic revealed insightful experiences regarding the use of technology for neurodivergent people.
