Towards Modelling Cooperation in Future Maritime Remote-Control Center

The emergence of Maritime Autonomous Systems (MASS) and Remote-Control Centers (RCC) poses challenges in understanding and managing cooperation among actors in harbor berthing maneuvers. Systematic methods analyzing cooperation from a human factors perspective are essential. To address these challenges, a systematic approach is needed, focusing on human factors and analyzing cooperation comprehensively. This paper briefly introduces such methods to lay the groundwork for investigating these challenges. The review highlights four key aspects: task analysis, information analysis, social network analysis, and analysis of artifacts and physical layout within the RCC and on board the MASS. Considerations will be integrated into the design phase of future RCCs, effectively tackling upcoming challenges. This approach shows how cooperation between actors in RCC can be designed.
