Methods of Movement

  • Peter J. Cook

摘要

This chapter offers research design alternatives to those working in dance, movement and performance, both online and offline. The processes and how they contribute to the collation and creation of data are interpreted for readers wishing to teach and create dance practice for themselves and/or their students. Drawing further on Deleuze and Guattari’s (A thousand plateaus: Capitalism and schizophrenia. Bloomsbury Publishing, 1988) notion of rhizomatic analysis, the chapter provides maps for analysing corporeal practices like dance, partnered with the distant intimacy of the digital lens. It concludes with a blueprint for data creation that can be adopted by researchers, dance practitioners and educators alike. The chapter opening figure provides a visual representation of how the technology can be fused with choreographic practice.
