Applying A/r/tographic Renderings to Artists’ Works

This chapter applies a/r/tographic renderings to each of the choreographic works, and their associated data events, including rehearsals, final works, processes and interviews. The choreographed works and semi-structured interviews are analysed rhizomatically through the a/r/tographic concepts of contiguity, living inquiry, metaphor and metonymy, reverberations, openings and excess. The artist/participants made a significant number of comments about the presence of the researcher/participant within the choreographic practice evidence in these works, a concept which did not fit neatly within the renderings so is considered here independently. It has considered all aspects of the a/r/tographic framework to offer close analysis of the data events, including the processes involved in the development of the original works and the discussion arising from the semi-structured interviews. The artistic and educational events offered new perspectives on the choreographic practice from movement generation to methods of construction. A/r/tographically, the rhizomatic connections were embodied, explained and understood as a result of the analysis. The chapter opening figure is a representation of overlaying multiple concepts.
