Virtual/Actual

摘要

Chapter 9 (“Virtual/Actual”) returns to the double process of virtualisation/ actualization and insists on an important parameter of the process of actualization (understood as a synonym of differenciation, integration and solving): the importance of the temporal factor (speed and rhythm, acceleration and delay), which is a crucial component of the spatio-temporal dynamism in morphogenesis. Deleuze adds that the spatio-temporal determination should not be associated with the Kantian schemata, because schemata relate to concepts as “logical possibilities” whereas the spatio-temporal determinations he considers are described as “dramas of the idea”. Considering the relation Virtual/Actual in a literary perspective provides the opportunity to revisit the role of the reader’s game in processing the Virtual and the Actual. A brief foray into Deleuze’s Cinema 2 offers supplementary clues as to how to imagine the relation between Virtual and Actual in an art form heretofore unmentioned in the book. Finally, the concepts of “transfer” and “reversibility” developed by the painter Hans Bellmer resonate in interesting fashion with those Deleuze developed in Proust and Signs.
