Electrochemical Detection of Desorbed Calcium Ions from Bovine Serum Albumin Binding
摘要
A preliminary detection technique of calcium ion is proposed in this work. It combines the calcium ions desorption from the bovine serum albumin (BSA) binding in buffer solution and the electrochemical detection by cyclovoltammetry (CV). For this purpose, various concentrations are tested, with particular focus on physiological and pathological values of calcium levels (0 mM, 1 mM, 1.5 mM). Solutions at different concentrations are analysed on the electrode surface by applying a triangular input voltage. The output voltage is represented as a function of the applied voltage by creating a cyclic waveform, the cyclic voltammogram. Focusing on the closed-loop curve, the measured voltage value progressively increases as the concentration of calcium ions in solution rises, particularly in the range of interest between 0.3 V and 0.7 V with a Limit of Detection (LOD) of 0.08 V. The promising results indicate effective performance. The forthcoming challenge involves utilizing a screen-printed electrode with a carbon/calcium ionophore working electrode.
