This paper presents lobe curves obtained from a modal analysis that was undertaken to determine the ranges of stable tool operation (without self-excited vibration) for the assumed properties of material, tool geometry and selected technological parameters such as width of cut and feed per tooth. The output parameters obtained from the modal analysis were a depth of cut ap and a rotational speed n.
