Integration of Environment, Social and Governance Practices into Project Management Through Automation

In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, sustainability has become a crucial factor for organizations. As project management is a fundamental part of the company’s organizational management, it can be a source of improving sustainable development. Within this landscape, the arising of automation technologies unlocks new possibilities, enhancing operational efficiency. Hence, this paper aims to understand the feasibility of automating the incorporation of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) practices in project management planning. We performed a bibliometric analysis, using data from scientific platforms such as Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus. The analysis was carried out through a bibliometric protocol employing Biblioshiny software. The findings suggest a major literature gap connecting these three concepts (ESG, Automation and Project Management). However, there appears to exist an overall understanding that combining these areas, in various ways, is valuable for society and sustainable development. This study contributes to the evolution of this discussion by summarizing the main frameworks that address two or three of these interconnected concepts.
