Development of a Serious Game to Support Alzheimer’s Patients: First Insights
摘要
In this paper, extensive research was conducted on games developed for mental illnesses, focusing on Alzheimer’s disease. The game was developed focusing on the major problem of Alzheimer’s disease, which is memory loss. The game is an open world that contains 3 mini-games where the player can train memory. The mini-games cover various types of mechanics, such as dragging objects and clicking on objects to change colours. Several topics are addressed, such as the use of music in therapy and existing immersive technologies. Several games were studied, and in many of them, both weaknesses and strengths were observed in therapy for the illness. The overarching goal is to gather all this data and ensure that the developed game is the culmination of all this collection. A questionnaire was also developed to test the feasibility of the game, likewise, to raise various issues in the same way. This game could also serve as a diagnostic support tool.
