The Zé-Pereiras and the Carnival of Zé Povinho

We’ll dedicate part of chapter to the Teatro de Revista and its connection with Carnival and its sounds and rhythms. We’ll also talk about Zés-Pereiras and the Carnival of the lower-income population. Always using texts and caricatures on the subject, we will try to analyse and discuss how such forms of entertainment were disseminated in these magazines. Themes also associated with this chapter and articulated with the discussion that the will analyse here along with documentary corpus will be: urban reforms, the different carnival spaces and how intellecutals criticised the way many Brazilians spent these festivities.
