Carnivalizing Carnival

In chapter we look at how the different carnivals were portrayed by illustrated magazines, in caricatures and texts. This chapter also shows how many adverts were associated with carnival. In other words, the importance of the festivities for publicising and selling certain products. In addition, there is a topic on the festival and the social and everyday behavior of the period and how the magazine and its intellectuals talked about and dealt with the subject associated with carnival and how they sought to discipline associated with carnival and how they sought to discipline carnival and/or such rules.
